The pay for Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technicians is relatively high, and job opportunities should be very good, especially for people who complete formal training programs.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) offers certification in several diesel and heavy vehicle/equipment specialties. You must pass an exam to earn this nationally respected credential, and you'll need plenty of relevant job experience.
