Motorcycle Mechanic Career

If you're interested in being a Motorcycle Mechanic, you probably have an interest in motorcycles already. There are good opportunities in this career, especially if you're up-to-date on the latest technology.

Formal training for motorcycle mechanics isn't as readily available as it is for car mechanics. Many people who repair and maintain motorcycles learn their trade on the job, but today's employers often prefer applicants with training in small engine or motorcycle mechanics. It takes three to five years for a motorcycle mechanic to become proficient in all aspects of the job. Many motorcycle technicians work for dealers who send them to short-term training specific to the brands and models they sell.

The median hourly wage for motorcycle mechanics can range from $12+ to $18 an up.
