Pharmacy Assistants are clerical employees who perform administrative tasks in pharmacies.

A pharmacy assistant's responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining computer records
  • Preparing insurance forms
  • Stocking shelves and taking inventory
  • Running a cash register
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment

These qualifications may help you get hired as a pharmacy assistant:

  • A high school degree or GED
  • Good people skills
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Experience with computers

Through advanced training, a pharmacy assistant can move up the ladder to become a pharmacy technician, and, with an accredited four-year Pharm. D. degree, a licensed Pharmacist.
