Electronics/Electronics Systems Careers
How to Get a Career in Electronics/Electronics Systems
You can train for a career working with computer, communications, consumer electronics, navigation, or military equipment through an electronics engineering or engineering technician program. Programs for electronics engineers give you the right background to design, develop, and supervise the manufacture of electronic equipment. Engineering technician programs prepare you to assist with product development and manufacturing. Engineering technicians also install and repair equipment.
Education Requirements
Engineers have more extensive educations than technicians. Programs in electronics engineering are usually bachelor’s degree programs that require both engineering and liberal arts classes. Master’s programs are also available for students who already hold bachelor’s degrees in engineering as well as unrelated fields. Engineering technician programs are often 2-year associates degrees.
Employment Outlook
The employment opportunities of electronics/electronics systems technicians varies depending on the specialties. For instance, technicians who work with commercial and industrial equipment will see greater growth than other specialties due to overall improvements in manufacturing.
