Many educators work with children in elementary, middle, or secondary schools. Most are classroom teachers, but there are many teaching and education-related specializations as well, taught in schools, community centers, museums, and libraries.
Public schools in all 50 U.S. states require educators to have a teaching certification. Many states also require a teaching certification for other education- or counseling-related careers such as art therapy or theatre (in addition to any required specialty certification) if the classes or therapy groups are provided in a public school setting.
