Web Developer

A web developer writes the computer programs that run behind-the-scenes to keep Internet sites functioning. These programs enable companies to process customer information and orders. They enable site visitors to:

  • Make online purchases
  • Connect to multi-player games
  • Search for information
  • Communicate with one another

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related area plus experience with scripting languages will help you get work as a web developer. Web designers have skills and salaries comparable to those of computer programmers. The annual salary for a web developer is usually between $60,000 and $80,000.
